Newsletter monetization that turns readers into revenue

List your placements, set your own prices and let brands book you directly. LetterBid handles offers, payment, delivery reports and payouts, so you can keep writing.

What is newsletter monetization?

Newsletter monetization is the practice of earning money from an email newsletter, most commonly through paid subscriptions, affiliate links and sponsorships, where a brand pays to be featured in front of your subscribers. For most independent creators on Beehiiv, Substack, Kit or Mailchimp, sponsorships are the fastest route to meaningful revenue because they don't require readers to pay anything.

The hard part was never the idea. It's everything around it: cold-pitching brands, answering "what's your rate?" emails, sending invoices, chasing late payments and proving the ad actually ran. LetterBid turns that into a system. You publish a storefront with fixed-price packs, brands book or send offers, the money is secured before you publish, and your share lands in your Stripe account on the 15th of the month.

You stay in control of the parts that matter: which placements you sell, what they cost, which dates are open, and which brands you accept. LetterBid takes a flat 25% of each completed sponsorship, with payment processing included, and nothing else.

Everything you need to monetize a newsletter with sponsors

A storefront brands can book from: Your public sponsorship page shows your newsletter, audience and packs. Share the link in your footer, your bio or a reply to a brand. Brands can book without creating an account first.

Packs and bundles at your prices: Sell a dedicated email, a sponsored ad or a banner ad on its own, or bundle several into one pack. Each placement starts at $50, and a live calculator shows what the brand pays and what you earn.

Custom offers you can counter: Brands that want something different can send an offer. Accept it, decline it, or counter with your own price. Up to 3 counters can go back and forth before a deal is agreed.

Payment secured before you publish: Brands pay only after you accept, and LetterBid holds the money until the work is approved. No more publishing first and hoping the invoice gets paid.

Recurring monthly sponsorships: Brands can book you for several months in a row at an agreed monthly price. Their saved card is charged before each month's placement, which makes revenue easier to plan.

Verified badge and tracked results: Verify your audience with analytics screenshots to earn a Verified badge. After 3 tracked campaigns, your storefront shows LetterBid verified results measured by LetterBid.

How to start monetizing your newsletter

1. Create your free account: Sign up as a newsletter, add your newsletter profile with audience size, open rate and topics, and connect Stripe from Earnings & payouts so you're ready to be paid.

2. Build your storefront and packs: Choose the placements you sell, set your prices, bundle them if you like, and pick a layout. Add blocks such as a hero, stats, FAQ and testimonials from your past sponsors.

3. Get booked and run the sponsorship: Brands book a pack or send an offer. Once you accept and they pay, you publish on the agreed date and send a delivery report within 5 days, with the link, screenshots and results.

4. Get paid on the 15th: When the brand approves the report, or the 3-day review ends, 75% of the price goes to your balance. Stripe pays it out on the 15th once your balance is at least $100.

Why creators monetize with LetterBid instead of spreadsheets and invoices

Direct sponsorships pay well, but running them by email eats the time you should spend on your newsletter. LetterBid keeps the direct relationship and the pricing control, and removes the collections work.

No upfront cost and no monthly plan: you only pay a share when you earn

Brands pay the exact price you list, with nothing added on top

Money is held by LetterBid before you publish, not chased after

See each brand's payment reliability on its trust card before you accept

Block dates and set minimum notice so sponsors fit your schedule

Repeat sponsors can book recurring monthly placements in one go

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to monetize a newsletter?

It depends on your audience, but sponsorships are the most common starting point because readers don't pay anything and brands value an engaged, focused list. Many creators combine sponsorships with paid tiers or affiliate links. LetterBid focuses on sponsorships: you list placements, brands book them, and you're paid monthly.

How many subscribers do I need to monetize my newsletter?

There's no subscriber minimum to join LetterBid. What brands care about is a clear niche and real engagement, so a small, focused list with strong open and click rates can sell placements. The minimum price for any placement is $50.

How much does LetterBid take from my sponsorship revenue?

LetterBid keeps 25% of each completed sponsorship, and payment processing fees are included in that share. You keep 75%. For example, on a $400 sponsorship you earn $300. There is no subscription and no setup fee.

When and how do I get paid?

Payouts go out automatically through Stripe Connect on the 15th of every month. Earnings approved up to and including the 15th are in that month's payout. Your balance must be at least $100; otherwise it rolls over to the next payout date.

Can I monetize a Substack, Beehiiv or Kit newsletter on LetterBid?

Yes. LetterBid works alongside whichever platform you send from, including Beehiiv, Substack, Kit and Mailchimp. You keep publishing where you are; LetterBid handles the sponsorship bookings, payments and reports.

What happens if a brand doesn't pay?

Nothing is published unpaid. Brands pay only after you accept, and if they miss the payment deadline the booking closes as not paid and the date becomes free again. You can also check a brand's trust card, which shows its payment reliability, before accepting.

Do I have to accept every sponsor?

No. You can accept, decline or counter any offer, so you only run sponsors that fit your readers. Offers that get no reply before their deadline simply expire.
